“Growing up, I spent time at my father’s dental office as a patient in the dental chair and working as a front office aid. I saw the positive impact the entire staff had on the patients and the wonderful relationships that were built between them. I quickly realized there was more to dentistry than just teeth.
“It was not until my undergraduate study at University Nevada Reno that I decided to pursue dentistry as a career. I loved that it would challenge me and fulfill my desire to interact with people at a personal level and work with my hands. Since then, I have received a wonderful dental education and have mastered technical hand skills that qualify me as a dentist. What sets me apart, however, is the compassion I have always felt for people. It is this quality that brings another dimension to dentistry for me, allowing me to consider not only a person's oral health, but the person as well.”
– Dr. Daby
Dr. Amy Daby grew up in the suburbs of Sacramento California. As young child, she used to adventure around her father’s dental office not knowing she would someday take on the profession. Having a knack for science, Dr. Daby studied biology at the University Nevada Reno for her undergraduate degree, graduating Summa cum laude.
Dr. Daby’s memories of her father’s dental office growing up led her to pursue a career in dentistry. She attended the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco for her Doctorate of Dental Surgery.
The University of the Pacific School of Dentistry is known for its emphasis on developing practitioners with excellent hand skills, as well as cultivating patient-centric care. It taught Dr. Daby to treat her patients as a whole person rather than a cavity. She received a wonderful dental education and has mastered technical skills that qualify her as a comprehensive dentist. More valuable than this, however, is how she learned to treat people with compassion.
Dental school also exposed Dr. Daby to the need for dentistry in her community. She found volunteering in various outreach clinics including a mission trip to Jamaica extremely rewarding.
Dr. Daby’s passion has always been family dentistry. She practiced for two years in a pediatric dental office to gain skill in working with children. With this experience, combined with that of working in other general dentistry offices in Sacramento, Dr. Daby has the pleasure of working with patients of all ages.
Dr. Daby is excited to make Seattle her home for now, enjoying the beautiful outdoors of the Pacific Northwest and especially being closer to her boyfriend and close college friends who have been encouraging her to make a more permanent move to the area!
Dr. Daby and her golden doodle Trout are looking forward to hiking and exploring Mother Nature at her finest. In addition to her love for the outdoors, Dr. Daby enjoys exposing herself to new cultures through travel and spending time with her family. Above all, her faith is the guiding light of her life.
