Dr. Graham Egger began his career in dentistry right here in this practice in July 2004. Excited about the opportunity to practice family dentistry in his hometown of Twin Lakes, he joined his father-in-law, Dr. Henry Surbeck, following his graduation from dental school. Dr. Egger feels blessed to have worked side-by-side with Dr. Surbeck for three years, benefitting from his 39 years of experience in everything from clinical techniques, to business management, to patient interactions. A large part of Dr. Egger’s vision for how the practice is run today is influenced by the lessons he learned from Dr. Surbeck and the legacy he left. Even now, 15 years later, patients still testify to the seamless transition, appreciating the continuity in gentle delivery of anesthetic, compassionate and relational chairside manner, and overall high confidence in general knowledge and excellent clinical skill in treating their dental needs.
Dr. Egger feels deeply connected to the Federal Way and Twin Lakes communities, as he grew up within a short walking distance of our building. He attended Twin Lakes Elementary and Lakota Junior High, and spent many hours earning his black belt in Tae Kwon Do just around the corner and going to church just down the street. After graduating from high school at Charles Wright Academy, he spent two years of undergraduate college in North Carolina at Wake Forest University. It was during this time away that Dr. Egger solidified his interest in both the field of dentistry, as well as his desire to live in the Pacific Northwest. He transferred back home to complete his Bachelor’s degree in Zoology from the University of Washington in 1999, and then went on to graduate from the prestigious University of Washington Dental School in 2004 (ranked #1 in the country during that time).
Continuing Education is a high priority for Dr. Egger. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Washington State Dental Association and the Seattle-King County Dental Society. He regularly attends the Pacific Northwest Dental Conference as well as various courses held by the University of Washington. Dr. Egger enjoys close, collaborative working relationships with the specialists (periodontists, orthodontists, oral surgeons, endodontists) in our community, and benefits from the study clubs they host. Dr. Egger also enjoys supporting Medical Teams International, volunteering on their Mobile Dental Van at their Christian Faith Center location when time allows.
Outside of practicing dentistry, Dr. Egger enjoys spending his free time with his wife, Shannon and his four beautiful daughters. He loves the opportunity to get outdoors in the scenic backcountry of Washington. While in his earlier years this used to mean hunting, fishing and golfing, many of his interests have morphed over time and are now largely shaped by the interests of his teenage daughters. In this busy season of life, you might find him horseback riding, hiking, cross-country skiing, attending a wide array of sporting events (volleyball, rowing, soccer and basketball), or even occasionally at “the mall”. He remains an avid sports enthusiast, closely following the University of Washington Huskies and the Seattle Seahawks.
